Irina Birouly

“Nowadays we lack a thing that can be called a creative love to the tired city and a skill to see its dignity in any weather and under any circumstances. And the theatre of the city created by Irina Biroulia compensates the shortage of this love. “

About the Artist

Painting in the best works by Irina Biriulia is a sacred craft. The colour scheme shows maximally restrained relations, however, when being scrutinized, the paintings fill with a strong but dimmed colour, and the objects acguire their own internal light.

The city on the canvas is born all over again wish a filigree severity. But it is neither its main entrance nor its prosaic backward. Most freguently it is a set of beloved small articles, romantic trifles of the city prose melted in the eternal and illusory beauty of the city. Nowadays we lack a thing that can be called a creative love to the tired city and a skill to see its dignity in any weather and under any circumstances. And the theatre of the city created by Irina Biroulia compensates the shortage of this love.

About the Artist

Irina Bimulia is a theatre artist. Obviously, Irina Biroulia has a good taste with a special liking for large planes and walls. It is not quite accidentally that in her professional youth she used to dream about huge frescoes, white in the theatre has been enjoying painting vast theatre backdrops.

So there is logic in the fact that she has found a fascinating technical method such as making the priming of sand or ground which, thus, giving a rough grainy and vivid texture to the pictorial surface, which is similar to that of frescoes.
